Aikido Eastside - Bellevue, Washington
Aikido Eastside offers daily classes for adults and children in the non-violent, non-competitive Japanese martial art of Aikido providing Mind, Body, Spirit integration as well as effective self defense. Aikido focuses on center to center connection and strives to allow one to defend without the necessity of seriously harming the attacker. The art developed in the mid 20th century as a gift to all mankind by Master Morihei Ueshiba, whom practitioners call "O Sensei" or revered teacher.
George Ledyard, 6th dan, Chief Instructor.
Aikido Heiwa - Lynnwood, Washington
AIKIDO is often called "The art of doing nothing" because of nearly effortless techniques that triumph over hard attacks. Through control of a partner's balance any attack can be rendered ineffective, without having to apply much force.
At Aikido Heiwa - Martial Arts for Peace we teach the natural flowing, graceful movements of Aikido, as well as the art's explosive, self-defense oriented techniques.
To enable the martial arts student to better understand a wide range of different attacks, we practice the strikes and throws from KarateDo and Judo, and the close combat skills of AikiJutsu and Chinese Wushu.

California Aikido Association
History of the CAA
The Aikido of Northern California Yudansha Kai was organized in 1974 by black belt holders dedicated to the task of exploring the path shown by Master Ueshiba, and to teaching Aikido philosophy and techniques to all those who wished to follow. In 1980, the name of the Yudansha Kai was changed to Aikido Association of Northern California (AANC) to take into consideration the many people represented by the association who are not black belt holders. By 2001 the AANC had evolved into 3 divisions and had grown to over 100 member dojos. The California Aikido Association (CAA) was formed in 2002, from a majority of the AANC membership, based upon the principle of training together in friendship with a minimum of formal organizational structure. The CAA is affiliated with Hombu Dojo, Aikido Headquarters, in Tokyo, Japan.
The CAA Today
The CAA has grown into a worldwide community and is fortunate to have within its membership many teachers with varied backgrounds and complementary skills. Thus the CAA embraces many stylistic and technical traditions but is guided by the physical and philosophical ideals established by the founder, Morihei Ueshiba. It is this very open-ness and diversity that uniquely defines the CAA not so much as an organization but as an 'Association' of teachers, dojos, and aikidoka whose primary common bond is the art we practice. This loose association also means that the CAA does not mandate, enforce, govern, oversee, direct, sanction, or otherwise control the specific operations and events within its member dojos. Each dojo and each member is solely responsible for their own actions.
Jiyushinkai Aikibudo
The Jiyushinkai is an independent group with roots in the teaching methods of: Kano, Mifune, Ueshiba, Tomiki, Ohba, Nishioka, and Miyake senseis. The senior students of the Jiyushinkai are motivated to teach the less experienced how to "stand on their teachers' shoulders" as the saying goes. We all have much to learn from each other.
Aikido as practiced in the Jiyushinkai (freedom of heart / mind / spirit organization) stresses systematic explanation and understanding of principle along with the practice of ki hon dosa (basic principles) in sotai seiteigata renshu (prearranged standardized forms practiced by two people) and then the application of these basics in randori (free practice).

Seidokan
The objectives of Seidokan Aikido are to study the philosophy and the arts of Aikido and further develop them to best suit the modern way of life. Seidokan Aikido is the study of Aikido as a whole. Old traditions are analyzed and only the good traditions are kept and further developed so that they can be useful in our daily lives. Seidokan Aikido emphasizes the attitude of training. The students and the instructors grow together at Seidokan Aikido dojos. The students learn the fundamentals from the instructors and the instructors gain deeper understanding of Aikido while sharing their knowledge with the students. Through earnest, realistic and sincere training, the students of Seidokan Aikido will learn the true meaning of Aikido.
United States Aikido Federation
The main aims of the USAF are to develop and guide the practice and instruction of Aikido as established by Hombu, to promote and develop good will, fellowship and lines of communication among its members, to standardize gradings, to register dan (senior level) grades with Hombu, and to establish and maintain close contact with the Shihan (master teachers) officially dispatched as representatives by Hombu.
To accomplish this, the USAF organizes, promotes and conducts Aikido demonstrations and seminars, encourages activities of member dojos, and researches, studies and publishes information and materials pertaining to Aikido.
